They may say, I'm a dreamer...
This weekend was one of the best in a while... and I'm not gonna lie, I've had some pretty awesome weekends lately. Weddings... Bachelor Parties... Cast Parties... Cookouts... they all have there positive qualities. But this weekend just ended on a really really good note. I guess that's the difference maker. While all of the good times that I've had the past few weeks have been awesome, this last weekend just ended on the best Sunday I've had in a long time.
Saturday, Michelle and I took off around midday to my friend's place on the upper West side in the city. Kevin and Martha's place was small but it has location and a great "backyard" area. It's right on Lexington along the 4, 5, 6... near Central Park... in a nice clean NYC area. And the backyard area was cool too! I don't know if I've ever been to an apt in NYC where there were two levels. We set up the downstairs outdoor patio area as the beer pong spot and basically stayed there most of the night. I didn't really know that many people there to begin with, but it was a great time by the end of the night. BBQ, Beer... awesomeness. Unfortunately, the rain did hit from time to time, but by 10pm, it more or less stopped... and the festivities continued.
The next morning the weather that we had been waiting for finally came. BEAUTIFUL!! We got up around Noon (which felt like 8am) and got some eats around the corner. Then the four of us went and saw THE HANGOVER... (while we were all hung over). Great movie... One thing after the next. I must say, Michelle and I have been doing a solid job on keeping up with all of the movies this summer. Wolverine, Star Trek (along she hasn't seen it, yet!), UP, The Hangover... bring on Harry Potter and Transformers 2!
Then, after we parted ways with Kevin and Martha, Michelle and I decided to walk through Central Park and enjoy the beautiful weather. Boy did we ever... we walked all over the park, from one side to the next... to the Great Lawn where we took a power nap...
...to the Alice in Wonderland statue... to the Shakespeare Gardens... to the Belvedere tower...
...and lastly we made it to Strawberry Fields.
Then after walking around everywhere... we realized that we were getting hungry again (because all we do is eat!). So we settled on Mickey Mantle's restaurant... the food was great! And while we were there, I noticed sports sideline reporter, Jim Gray walk right near our table. AND, low and behold, he was walking up to say high to Joe Buck who was eating there with his family. Definitely a little Star Struck for a moment there... so we finished our meal and walked the remaining distance to Grand Central. Since our train wasn't coming for another 45 minutes... what else is there to do, but eat! Haha... we stopped by one of the restaurants there and had a little espresso, tiramisu and cake (I can't remember the cake name). Yeah, we're basically fat kids.
So our train came at 10:22pm... and we crashed on the train. Our bellies full... our legs exhausted... and our brains fried from the weekend's festivities...
