Christmastime is here...Weekend review...
FRIDAYAfter getting out of work around 8pm, I headed off to Bachi's to meet Kristin for our FAVORITE pizza - THE GREAT WHITE. For those daring pizza eaters out there, give this a go. Definitely one of my favorites. Ready for the ingredients? Broccoli, sliced garlic and shrimp. Hey now, don't knock it if you haven't tried it! It was great catching up with her. And our friend Dan was also in town so he stopped in for a bit too. A good time and definitely a good start to the weekend!
SATURDAY

Then on Saturday, I did something I've never done before - go tailgating at a Christmas tree farm!! Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, and to be honest, we WERE the only psycho ones that set up camp, but it was a good time! Every year, Ian and Emily plan on cutting down their very own Xmas tree at the farm in Shelton. BUT, before you head off with your saw - it's customary to do a bit of grillin and enjoy some frosty cold beverages. This year, they brought along Kenny and myself and it was awesome. Apparently last year there were a bunch of tailgaters, but this year, like I mentioned earlier in the blog - we were the ONLY ones that were rockin' out. Although, most of the cars that drove by appeared to be very jealous. Either that or they thought we were crazy. :)
Other than the tree festivities, I also attended Diggity Dean's bachelor party. Sorry, no details will be provided. If you were there, sweet. If you missed out, you don't know what you missed! haha...
SUNDAYSunday morning kicked off with a 5k in New Haven. Last year, Matt G, Matt Z and I ran this race, this year I ran solo. I did about what I expected since I didn't train at ALL. 27:45ish. That's about a 9 min mile pace. I hope to keep up with these 5Ks. I'd like to trim down that time of 27:45. I think I did 26 minutes at some point. With AIDA, I will be getting in better shape so for the next one, I'll be better prepared. All in all, it was fun. Glad I went through with it.
Then it was off to Football Sunday at the Quinns. Except this time, we caught them COMPLETELY by surprise with Christmas Gifts. For two people that do so much for their friends, it was really nice to return the favor.
Now I'm back to work... this week I hope to get together with Kelly as well as finish up my Xmas shopping. This time of year is a little different for me this year. I'm not sure how much I want to divulge out there in the open for anyone to read, but there's a part of the whole holiday that I'm really missing this year. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one. Don't get me wrong... it's been great with gifts and work and life and stuff... I'm in a good place right now. But their's a little bit of a void that I wish I could mend. That's what I'm wishing for this year. I want to make things better - and I don't know if that's possible. That's what I'm praying for.
