I got a pocketful of soul right here…
I don’t really know what it was that I did this weekend. But by Sunday night I was freakin beat tired…
Nick and I caught
TOWER OF POWER on Friday night. I’ve heard only good things about T.O.P. shows… and I was amped that I finally had the opportunity to catch one. And what a show it was. For only knowing a handful of songs, I was thoroughly impressed. Not to mention we hung out with the lead singer for a little bit after the show. He recognized the MAYNARD FERGUSON shirt that I was wearing and came right over to us. Apparently the two trumpet players in TOP were former members of the Big Bop Nouveau…Word on the street is that T.O.P. will be at Mohiegan Sun at the end of September in the Wolf’s Den (FREE SHOW!!!). Definitely worth seeing…
Moving on to Saturday night. Marching Band competition @ Rockville. We focused a lot on marching this week with the addition of a few new visuals. We were focused to raise the bar from the
79.9 that we got in Rocky Hill last week.
85.2
With a lot of little things to fix… it’s time to nit pick everything. Musically… Marching… we have the show that could really blow away the stands, now we just need to do it. TRUMPETS!!! Come on guys… time to step it up. MOOSE!! Next week brings us to MUSIC IN MOTION a la Cheshire. Squaring off against Waterford. Should be a good match up… so far we are neck and neck this season.
Sunday, Chazze and I watched the Giants game @ J.Tims. Football, Oktoberfest Brews, and Dirt Wings… now if that ain’t a recipe for success I don’t know what is. Once we stuffed our faces (5 lbs n’ all), we ventured over to Downtown Southington for some Apple Fritters. We waited 45 minutes in line!!! And they even gave us a WARNING that they might not have enough fritters. What the @#$#@$??? I mean, you are only open two weekends a year and you might run out? I guess there was a rush on fritters this year… But we got ours eventually. And boy were they worth the wait…
Later on, Talvy joined us and we headed to the movies. We saw
Resident Evil: Apocalypse and then played a little
NBA Live 2005 @ Rich’s place.
HOW could I possibly end this blog without touching on the American League Championship Series that we are about to kick off. Let’s be honest
(of course it’s easy for me to say this now…) but really, from DAY ONE, did you think it would be anything else other that Yankees vs. Red Sox??? Exactly. We all knew that they probability of this day coming to pass was about 99.9%.
So what happens now.
Well, I did give you my picks in my last entry. I’ll stand by it. You have Schilling and Pedro pitching possibly two games a piece in this series. Game 1, Game 2, Game 5, and Game 6. I still say that Pedro is the X Factor. I loved the headline of the Hartford Courant the other day, “
MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY” We’ll see who’s who’s daddy in the days to come…
Belief makes things true, things like you…you and I
